The same reason why you can't buy a 100MB hard-drive for $2. The fixed costs are too high to bring the price lower. Maybe ask, "Why hasn't someone made a hardware attachment for phones, that is a very specialised input device that makes inputting maths in an app easier."?

@theindicator or@planetmoney? The answer was high school AP Calculus classes, plus maybe some other high school/college math courses.
