Is it a Twitter thing? Sarcasm doesn't play well here so people tend not to use it, or expect it. Also maybe a generational thing, sarcasm is much more a Gen X flex?

It's a twitter thing because you can pull anything out of context. Sarcasm is also called wit and most people don't get it, which makes it fun but also tedious in situations like this one
