Note Japan *does* appear to (partially) share two elements w/other countries in Asia: 1) High mask usage 2) Policies resulting in 80% of confirmed cases either being a) in hospital or b) designated coronavirus hotels. Agree on the mask usage, but you have the second part backwards. The policy of hospitalizing all confirmed cases (which only ended recently) led to extreme levels of undertesting.
