There is a point at which telling Americans to treat a highly regional crisis as a national one is not going to remain tenable. The strategy of accusing anyone who wants restrictions lifted of mass murder will backfire once a region lifts them and nothing really bad happens to it
It's a regional crisis because the sole major outbreak has been in the New York City metro area.

I mean places where there were mass deaths and the hospital system was overwhelmed by cases.
