People in New York City are getting coronavirus just sittng and self-isolating at home. 66% of hospital admissions fit that profile. Meanwhile, Japan seems to be turning the corner with very little intervention. @Pinboard's all time best essays) but I think the question of one singular explanation vs quilt of reasons maybe actually is a question of perspective: vitamin C is the root cause, but how vitamin C works (or doesn't) is a quilt. - Show replies

Wasn't that because they had a solution that they didn't understand and then when they changed that solution to something that didn't really help, became convinced that they never actually had the solution?

That is, they had lemon juice which was a cure but not because it was sour, as they thought, but because it had Vitamin C. They switched to much cheaper Lime juice, which didn't, but was also sour. And then there were other technical changes so that the consequences were delayed?
