The debate about tracking data has turned into a carnival of performative wank about the efficacy of contact tracing apps, but meanwhile in the actual world we live in where many people are getting sick, analyzing the surveillance data we do collect could help keep people healthy

Even the most coarse-grained location data is helpful in tracking internal travel patterns in a big country with varying rates of disease. But the "privacy community" is off fighting phantom battles against magic bluetooth apps instead of engaging this tradeoff more honestly
