The medical community mobilized for a huge spike that didn't come. There's a lot of denial around this (and I was one of the people who denied it) but the hospitals simply aren't seeing the caseload they were bracing for, and the situation in fact seems to be stabilizing.

Maybe there is a clinical reason behind it, perhaps exposure to local illnesses provides some mitigation? I have no idea, there must be a reason through. Closer to home I'm also wondering how we see such a disparity in the EU.
