That's been a big concern, and back in March I was convinced it was the whole story. But we're way past the point where hiding a NYC-like growth curve with undertesting should have resulted in other impacts, like a high infection rate among hospital staff, and lots of deaths

It would be hard to hide a big spike in the death rate (full mortuaries etc), there must be a difference, and given the metropolitan nature of Tokyo, it's got to be significant, but no-one seems to know or be looking (and in fairness, perhaps not a priority for everyone).
