The presence of Ecuador on this map of who gets BCG vaccine is very suggestive. I'd heard the theory on tuberculosis vaccines, but hadn't seen this map before. Fortunately this should be easy to settle clinically quite soon. It's not - China topped at 80k, so that value is rather small compared to the sum of other countries. Whether or not that value is accurate is another question, but that's the number that these charts use.
