Everyone’s still buying iPhones and Macs. Thank god. We may not have food but our economy is saved.

No because I bought a chest fridge in February when it became obvious there was about to be a global epidemic. But there’s no chicken or eggs in half the stores, which is a little concerning.

I think running out of food belongs at the foot of any decent list of American anxieties right now. Granted, we may all be reduced to eating chocolate hummus and off-brand froot loops, but I don't think we're going to go hungry.

There’s running out of food, and there’s “watching your economy fail to be able to provide basic food products for the first time since WWII”. They’re different things. But both are kind of alarming.
