The fact that so much of the American press lives in DC and New York is detrimental to the press coverage of the epidemic, and not just from the obvious reason that journalists are stuck at home. There's way too big a focus on small apartment living and various urban neuroses

And given the cost of living in those environments the lower income brackets exist to the media as some kind of abstract otherworldly concept.

That isn't true at all, both cities have people at every rung of the economic ladder. They are not Atherton. But the housing and policy situation is idiosyncratic and not really representative of the rest of the country
