Not sure the definition of money is that big of a deal. Biology has made giant strides without having a entirely satisfying definition of what "life" is, and there are half a dozen different definitions for a species, all useful in some way.

I agree with you entirely. But there's not a "freshwater" and "saltwater" school of biology that believe completely different things, all of them unfalsifiable.
