A story I would like to understand better is to what extent Japanese authorities have failed to fight the pandemic because of an idiosyncratic "chain of clusters" theory about how it spreads that discourages widespread testing.

One thing I find very interesting in the Japanese response is an emphasis on talking as a vector of disease spread. One way or another, at the end of this we're going to know a whole lot more about masks, aerosols and coronavirus
