Fauci today: “Part of the reason for wearing face masks is to protect you from infecting you–he gestures at reporters. I had my test yesterday and it was negative.” But isn't there a substantial false negative rate on tests, leaving aside the role model reasons to wear a mask?

The false negative rate presumably mostly a function of the temporal dynamics of viral load, swab technique*, sample transportation etc. Repeating a test is a good way to reduce the uncertainty induced by these factors. *You can see why this might not always go wellpic.twitter.com/yNSfT1BwkX
