Japan Twitter, what are your favorite English language books on the country that aren't something like "The Cherry Blossom and the Salaryman"? I greatly enjoyed Bending Adversity by @davidpilling and Embracing Defeat by John Dower—would love more on those lines, past or present

To be mentioned in the same breath as the great John Dower made my day. For the record, his book is better.

He doesn't have a Twitter, so it evens out! I really enjoyed your book, and the observation you made that the idea of a "lost decade" in Japan ignores the value of social cohesion in a capitalist economy is something I think about more and more. Thank you for writing it!
