Hello, Icelandic person here. The testing is not random. It comes from two sources: Government testing, of people with symptoms or directly exposed. Decode testing: Testing people who want to be tested (self selected sample).
-
The bar for govt symptomatic tests is relatively high: aches, cough and 38.5C fever. I think bar may be lowered on a case-by-case basis depending on other factors (risk, exposure, etc.) at discretion of health care professionals.

Probably. If it's non-random, then the only thing you can safely say is that it's selection bias. Given the selection methods, it's most likely to be higher than a random sample would show.

Yes. It's about half non-random and half semi-random/broad sections of society. According to reports from home the infection rate in deCode Genetics' testing (they are doing the broad population testing) the infection rate has generally been under 1%, as low as 0.5% some days.

Thank you!

Did you mean 6% infection rate? (1135/17904=0.0634)
