You can argue with this policy by saying it's impossible, some kind of fiscal perpetuum mobile. But attacking it on an issue like insurance reimbursements is a spectacular missing of the point, when one goal of the plan is to eliminate a predatory and obfuscatory insurance racket

Kennedy didn't talk about finding a tax basis for the Saturn program. He said (and I quote) "let's go to the fucking Moon". A similar level of succinct abstraction is appropriate to the health care debate. Let the aging debate team nerds figure out how to fund it later

I strongly suspect we could pay providers close to the same amount if we simply failed to pay insurance companies as middle-entities.

UHC doesn't require cutting doctor pay or abolishing insurance companies. The Netherlands has a heavily regulated multipayer system and pays their doctors just as much as we do.
