Even worse: There used to be freely distributed books that listed every person living at every address with full name and job title, and said number to call them at any time of the day.

You're reminding me of a creepy phone call I got at age 15 from a guy who liked my high school yearbook photo then looked me up in the phone book. I've no idea how common that was. Thankfully, he took "no" for an answer, but I still found it scary.

people and companies can still just send unlimited physical junk to your mailbox and theres no way to apply a spam filter or anything, forcing you to do physical labor to discard it (still a problem sadly)
