A thing that also terrifies the marginalized is dying in a pandemic. So I propose we let people speak for themselves, and air their own concerns

I'll even talk to you. But this "debate me bro" thing is bullshit.

@Pinboard, you're better than this. But, maybe back off on the masculinist throw-down dominance rhetoric? You don't need it. You're a good person and a smart guy. These 2 people are totally solid and interested in genuine exchanges. It's not a street rumble. Why not just talk?1 reply 0 retweets 4 likes -
My honest answer is because when every other reply I make in a conversation gets quote-tweeted so that people will pile on, it feels like less of a discussion and more of a performance. Maybe this is just an impossible medium to try to talk in

@pinboard, this is a hot medium. Why not take this out of the public and cool down a little? You say stuff in a provocative way. (You know that's true.) And, effective activism is connecting with people across difference. Take a step back and don't try to justify being a hothead.1 reply 0 retweets 4 likes -

Calling people's genuine concerns "performative" is a b.s. rhetorical move of the right wing fuckers. Please don't adopt it. I promise you their concerns are genuine. They don't need to fight you for clout. They're not monetizing this. Take a breath! Other people know stuff.

And, don't assume you know the identities of all of these screen names. You are talking to marginalized people. I know them. Heck, I'm even one. Despite my whiteness and American born-ness. Please, you're a talented organizer. Don't merely bicker! It should be beneath you.
