Some of my reasons for being... concerned: (1) Certain implementations don't make sense to me, e.g. tracking precise location using cell towers, so I question the sincerity. (2) I think you're being optimistic about private and public institutions giving up this access.

Some of the tech backlash has been because companies have refused to participate in government data collection. I dread those companies backing away from that fight to preserve their status quo.

What are your thoughts on the BLE tracking method used in the Singapore app? You can notify people they have been close to positive case, without centralized tracking. Requires large installation base though.
