One thing that really struck me in rural parts of the US is how more and more of the economy seems to revolve around health care. The big towns are all built around hospitals. Now we are about to try making health care the principal form of economic activity on the national level
My specific experience of this: Iowa, West Virginia, Maine, Minnesota, Utah, New Hampshire, upstate New York, Kentucky
