The Lancet: "As evidence suggests COVID-19 could be transmitted before symptom onset, community transmission might be reduced if everyone, including people who have been infected but are asymptomatic and contagious, wear face masks."https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanres/article/PIIS2213-2600(20)30134-X/fulltext …

I feel safer when I see a mask wearer because if infected they are unlikely to spread it to me.
-
That's the whole point. People (US) think mask wearers are trying to filter the outside for themselves, but masks aren't to protect them from the world, it's to protect you from them.

A lot of Sydneysiders bought N95s in January to protect against bushfire smoke. I’m going to be wearing mine out from now on because a) I’m a cuticle biter and it’s safer and b) if it reminds people who aren’t taking it seriously enough that shit is serious, great

Protect urself. At this critical stage don’t care about too much of culture. U only live one life. And if u see an Asian wearing a mask. Plz. Be nice to them
. They just want to protect the city and the people, not trying to hurt anyone.

FYI, in Italy the situation is that people will yell at you if you have no mask, but they’re still nowhere to be found. Not nice.
