Washington Post still publishing headlines about how masks don't help, as if they were a bizarre superstition and not part of an effective intervention in the only countries that have gotten coronavirus under control. Compare that attitude with the clear (and obvious) evidence that anything is better than nothing when it comes to covering your face.https://twitter.com/CMichaelGibson/status/1239718351573843973 …

What we'll end up with is public guidance for how to make (possibly re-usable) masks for personal use in public out of a variety of materials, coupled with pleas to donate higher-quality medical masks to health care providers. But this advice should have been given in January

When thing calm down, the Washington Post is going to want to convene its surviving editors and have some real soul-searching about how they chose to cover the pandemic https://twitter.com/wesyang/status/1241598924516986881 …

I agree with your conclusions, but wanted to point out the study you link specifically refers to decreasing the ability of an infected individual wearing a mask infecting others, not the other way around.

since I wear glasses and have a very, let’s call it “western” nose, I find a lot of masks fog up my glasses due to poor seal at nose/cheekbones. that makes me not want to wear them. the http://diymask.site  design has a top adjustment strap that counteracts that

“Magical thinking” has to be one of the most outrageous lines I’ve ever read. 70% or “screw it, i threw some salt over my shoulder”, whats the difference?
