Dear air travel Twitter: a few months ago, I bought the most expensive plane ticket of my life, a $5,271 round trip business class ticket for my mom to Japan. @CathayPacific cancelled the return leg but is refusing to refund more than $276 of the amount. Do I have any redress?

Thank you to everyone who gave advice on this air ticket Cathay Pacific wouldn't refund. The credit card company processed and paid the dispute quickly, even though the purchase was over six months ago. I hope other people in this situation have an equally satisfying resolution

What clinched things was (truthfully) telling the credit card agent that the airline had promised to refund the money, unequivocally, in those words. It also helped to remember the agent had been yelled at all day by irate people. Friendliness paid off handsomely for old Pinboard

Hi! Unfortunately, AirHelp does not handle ticket refund claims as such. We recommend that you contact the agency or the airline. If your claim is ignored or rejected, we suggest that you contact your domestic consumer protection authority and seek its assistance. Alex @ AirHelp
