Dear air travel Twitter: a few months ago, I bought the most expensive plane ticket of my life, a $5,271 round trip business class ticket for my mom to Japan. @CathayPacific cancelled the return leg but is refusing to refund more than $276 of the amount. Do I have any redress?

This. Over the years of (occasional) business travel, I've learned to deal directly with hotels and airlines for the actual transactions. To the extent possible. They're much more helpful when you need something in an emergency if you deal directly with them.
