I’ve been online since I was around 11. There is no greater challenge in computing requiring deep maturity and lessons learned, than data archival and integrity across decades. You just don’t get it until the universe has burned your hand multiple times. You don’t.

I encrypted a backup with EFS. I exported the encryption certificate and kept it in multiple places. I exported the wrong certificate.

I created a ZIP file with all my teenage writings and put a strong password on it. I transferred to a backup disk and then reinstalled the computer’s OS. I lost the password. I have my life in a file I cannot open.
