There's a chance your statement is analogous to the unaware sneering at the time and money spent to avoid Y2K problems. Italy's health care system being overwhelmed doesn't mean it couldn't have been worse. And aren't you assuming our experience will be no worse than theirs?

I'm arguing that the problem faced by Italy and others (acute spike in admissions exceeding the number of available beds) is unrelated to the way that health care is paid for in the country.
