Oh i don’t know. You don’t have to like it, but it’s clearly an achieved aesthetic rather than an accident; the background pops, hiss and static of late capitalism turned into prose. PKD in contrast was a bad writer in many ways, but still a bad writer of genius.

DeLillo is a sort of literary obligate parasite who has tailored his prose to the academic mind, so they somehow see complexity where those unaffected see drivel. I'll note in passing that pops, hiss and static are a retro aesthetic now, just like "late capitalism" itself
