isn’t this just like economics though? Micro is just the over-analysis of two intersecting curves, and Macro is really just a history class.

No, because there are many orders of magnitude more natural experiments in micro than macro and even macro has far more data than PS. The math envy means Econ knows all about causal inference and thus has been comparatively unscathed in the replication crisis.
