Why is nobody in American politics able to get young people to vote at old people rates?

Yeah I saw that chart as well but people 60+ are still higher, no? I don't think that's consistent with claiming that it peaks with working age people. Presumably older working people have more senioritt and security among jobs to take the time to vote

I believe there's a drop-off after 70, but can't find the chart right now. Note that the pattern holds in states where people can vote by mail, so it's not a factor of younger voters not being able to get to the polls. It's just apathy.

Somehow Obama got the turnout to double what it was in 1996. Maybe it was something about him. Although 2004 had a big effect too.
