A President Biden would take a lot of naps, bring us back into the Paris climate accords, and nominate qualified, non-radical judges to the Federal bench and Supreme Court. That is 1000x better than what we have right now! It's going to be okay!

the argument is Biden will simply re-play the failures of Obama, and in 2024 loses to Pres. Ben Shapiro or some other neo-fascist

I don't think it does, it could just get worse. I believe real change will be incremental and unsatisfying, but that it's worth fighting for. It's not a very rosy vision of the future, but I believe in it sincerely.

We're both engineers: incrementalism/conservativeness works in systems that are stable/default to safety. If your reactor is going critical, nothing is worse than doing nothing. The creep of inequality, fascism, and climate disaster has a clock and the default is not safe!

I agree with you! But I think the control levers available are very limited. I am a fairly radical person in my own personal politics, but I do not think any change is possible without actual political power.
