If you voted today in an American election, please do one more thing—take a minute to give some money, even if just a small amount, to our Great Slate of rural Democrats running for congress in states that have important, contested Senate races this fallhttps://secure.actblue.com/donate/great_slate …

Your vote counted today! And these donations count, by giving candidates resources in some very expansive districts to do the work of bringing in new voters for November. Fundraising is an enormous time drain on campaigns—you are helping them use that time for its maximum value

Let me tell you specifically who those donations help. They go to four people: the first is J.D. Scholten, who is running against Steve King, the white nationalist congressman, in northwest Iowa. J.D. came within 11,000 votes of winning a stunning upset in 2018.pic.twitter.com/52GRc1wpcT

The second is Diane Mitsch Bush (
@RepDMB), a former state legislator, scientist and sociologist running against a climate denying incumbent who lives deep in the pockets of the oil lobby. Her district covers the entire western half of the state of Colorado.pic.twitter.com/hhIQNw9NcC

Our third candidate,
@AlyseGalvin, is running in the biggest district there is—Alaska. This seat has been occupied for 43 years by Don Young, a thug and bully who once attacked a congressional staffer. Young is also a climate denialist, in the state hit hardest by climate changepic.twitter.com/A5gpqTC3wn

And our final candidate is
@RepGolden, who won a razor thin election, and flipped his seat for the first time in over a century, in 2018. Golden represents a vast portion of Maine, and has shown he can win votes in the district that will decide Susan Collins's fate in Novemberpic.twitter.com/msmG2741U5

These people have two things in common—they are rewriting the playbook about how Democrats can run and win in rural America, and they don't have an elite school background, no Yale law degree, no extensive fundraising network to raise the small fortune it takes to run and win

These people have shown they can win us votes in areas where Democrats usually do worst. In a contested Senate election this fall, where a number of states may be decided by razor thin margins, those votes will be priceless. Please help them do this work!https://secure.actblue.com/donate/great_slate …

The alternative is that we become spectators in what happens to our country, and politics is just another professional sporting event. Whether you make donations, volunteer on a local campaign, or register voters, do something to give you agency and hopehttps://twitter.com/GenePark/status/1234963103344922624 …

Given the trajectory of our presidential primary, I believe that a second Trump term is more likely than not, and I hope that we can work as hard as we can to win the Senate this year. Without the Senate in 2021, we are really sunk.
