The front finally fell off my mother's ancient oven door and I had to physically destroy it so she that would not surreptitiously crochet it back together and use the thing for another decade. Please to tell me your stories about sabotaging a pathologically frugal parent.

This is an oven where three of the stovetop burners haven't worked for upwards a dozen years, and you have to turn the remaining one "just right" to use it, so I felt it called for the most drastic measures.

My parents dryer was unbalanced for a while, they had multiple detergent bottles strategically placed on top to keep it from rattling and shaking it to pieces. I took them all off, cut holes in the bottoms and told them to call a repairman.

I live this life too. The dryer is from the 1970s, but I'm trying to win the oven battle first
