I don’t think it helped convince them to play for the team that, while helping guys like Lipinski and Cuellar, Pelosi has seemed to go out of her way to talk shit about AOC, even though the later is very popular and supported Pelosi’s Speakership

Had you considered that one reason democrats (not progressives) can't flip republican seats is that they're just republicans lite and nobody likes them?

This is the standard argument from the left about why we lose, and that a more full-throated articulation of our values, and a real contrast in policy, would have a better chance at winning those seats. But I don't think the evidence shows that to be true.

There also are progs looking to unseat conservative dem incumbents, for example in IL-03. This is much more like an attempt at correction than tilting at windmills, IMO. Hard to know since polling data seem to be scarce.
