I'm really perplexed by the missing middle of the Democratic party leadership. Where are all the centrists born in the 50's and 60's? Why is the left only represented by people born before or after the Baby Boom? Why do the few middle-aged politicians who try fail so quickly?

I’m guessing post-Bretton Woods, neoliberalism took the driver’s seat, and it took a few decades to show what was wrong with it. In the meantime (well in the 80s) young politicians were being formed in the years of its greatest successes?

I’m neither a political scientist nor an economist nor a historian, so I should keep my mouth shut, but we’re on Twitter, so.
