In the immediate run up to the U.S. presidential election and on Election Day, the homepage of YouTube is set to advertise just one candidate: Donald Trump. great scoop @mhbergen @joshuabrusteinhttps://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-02-21/donald-trump-youtube-ads-will-dominate-election-day …

Facebook doesn’t really have a homepage ad option that would be comparable to this. Twitter has the promoted hashtag of the day, but no candidate can take that around elections because of the company’s political ad ban.

Important point in the story: this wasn’t some self-service purchase. The Trump campaign worked with Google sales reps to negotiate it.pic.twitter.com/QYrxlFgw4Q

It's a lifestyle, yes. But Google employees are not coal miners, they have money, agency and their pick of a strong labor market.

…well, not entirely. there are other factors. and ffs, there are multiple reasons people choose jobs for unethical employers, starting with the fact that the amount for ethical tech companies is close to zero, and google is far from the least ethical of them all.
