There's some good reasons neither party ran such geriatric candidates in the past, let alone had three of them in the pack of finalists. Reagan and Dole, for whom age was a major issue, were both 73 during their final run. Reagan left office in an advanced state of senility at 77

If Bernie were ten years younger, the attacks on gerontocracy would be unrelenting. Unfortunately the Movement is saddled with an equally ancient champion, talk of age is off-limits, and we move closer to putting a nominee well past his elect-by date at the head of the ticket

Having a president die of old age in office would be a humiliation for our democracy. Washington declined to seek a third term (at age 64) to avoid precisely this outcome.

Americans are rightfully ashamed of how they treat the elderly, and so it's considered to be in bad taste to talk about the effects of age. But ask someone in their eighties, when you visit them in the home you put them in, if they think an octogenerian president is a good idea

As someone who supports Warren, I hope she takes this moment to draw some lines between both her & Sanders as well as Bloomberg. In theory, she should be able to whack Bloomberg like a pinata. But there is also the "I share a lot of policies with Bernie, but don't scare people"
-
I would also love to see fighting Warren on the stage, and hope she reconsiders her approach

I'm not sure Bloomberg *looks* older than, say, LBJ did while in office. (This picture is from March 1964; Johnson was 55.) Heck, the 70-year-old Warren looks better than a lot of people once did in their late 40s...pic.twitter.com/hJpUOOBTOZ

Warren not only looks fit, but is a model of stamina and energy at her events. It's pretty remarkable.

The age of the candidates isn't surprising. It reflects America itself - the "sick man" of the Occident.

Kamala Harris is 55. I'm still pissed she got railroaded out of the race to pave way to four B candidates and a white woman 15 years her senior.

I was peeved she couldn't even give her full attention to serving one Senate term for my state
