I used to get 4-5 conference speaking invites a year, but over the last three years this has dried up. I can't tell whether I'm over the hill personally, or if there's been a change in the conference landscape overall. I'd be curious to hear from others who give generalist talks.

(For those not familiar with the format, a conference talk is a type of live podcast with no mattress ads)

If you do work out what’s going on there’s probably a conference talk in it.

FWIW - I too suspect there’s a broader thing. Have gone from 8-10 invites/yr to just a few. Some of it can totally be blamed on a change in focus/visibility on my part, but the vibe also feels different. Possibly less these days about community than sound-bites/bums on seats
