Nonvoters who make up the majority of the U.S. electorate are a kind of political dark matter. We know they exist, but getting them to the polls has eluded the greatest minds in political science. Don't believe anyone who claims they will do it without seeing experimental proof!

They would probably just introduce more variance more than anything else if forced or obligated to vote, not a specific candidate/ideal one way or another.

You might be right. While in US you always have to account for disenfranchisement, most non-voters are at best uninformed and easily manipulated by authoritarian populists.

uh, you mean unless it’s a re-election campaign (that happens almost every other time) which is implicitly promising more of the same. So yeah this isn’t a very compelling argument.
