The Michael Bennett event was too packed(!), so I'm here to see Tulsi Gabbard at the Elks lodge in Rochester. There is a parking spot reserved for "exalted ruler". Soon, soon.pic.twitter.com/VILB7Wo3Yq

The Tulsi event was weird as hell. I haven't that level of audience intensity outside of a Bernie event, even though she is quite unexciting as a speaker. Large numbers of libertarians and Republicans in the audience. Some people drove in from out of state just to attend.pic.twitter.com/KeIqxCJpHo
I don't understand the depth of the emotional connection people have with this campaign, but it's there. Notable that even Bernie doesn't talk about the bipartisan foreign policy establishment and its commitment to warmaking, but this is the heart of Gabbard's campaignpic.twitter.com/tOD0cZYpVG
Also, you should automatically go to any political event hosted at an Elks lodge. What a weird piece of Americanapic.twitter.com/nc7ygknwUT
I think of Gabbard as I did of the Tea Party—she's hit a rich vein of political ore that will become significant later, even if she's not the one who ends up exploiting it. Very disorienting and bizarre event that I have to chew on.
I should stress that I go to events because I'm interested in the audience, not so much the speaker. I know everyone has strong opinions for or against candidates; I want to know what the cleavage planes are in the electorate. Heh. Cleavage.
