Biden is absolutely right that we need to win a Senate majority, not just the presidency. That's what this fundraising effort is about—how to build statewide, rural campaign infrastructure to help gain hard votes for Senate races. It might not work. But imagine if we didn't try!

Okay, since everyone on stage is fundraising right now—the guy we helped elect to Congress in 2018 has stood like a rock against accepting corporate PAC money as an incumbent, despite great pressure to do so. This has become a real and substantive movement within the House!

But the only way to fix the broken, corrupt campaign finance system is to elect people within it, who will then reform it. And that's the basic premise of the Great Slate. We try to raise no-strings funds to free candidates to spend their time fighting for votes, not fundraising

This is horrifically expensive—a House campaign costs on the order of $4M if you're lucky not to have a major media market; a state House campaign can cost north of $100K. The only way to elect people who aren't wealthy, and don't cozy up to wealth, is to fundraise for them.
