So we're all agreed that non (or, ideally, anti) fascist politicians need an overwhelming coalition that necessarily differs from the Democratic default. That doesn't, however, mean that Carville's model is particularly good, nor that his ultimate goals are desirable

Yes. Just some of his points were correct -- he understands we must embrace our diverse coalition, and try not to unnecessarily alienate people during campaigns. And vote blue no matter who including Bernie (who is my choice) and senators.

That was the part of Carville's analysis I agreed with. Simple majorities aren't sufficient for Democrats because the Republicans have leveraged the Electoral College to their advantage, along with voter suppression and gerrymandering.

That's why ultimately the idea of "political revolution" is necessary. Without fundamentally altering the equation, the left can never win. The way to do that is disruptive politics with larger demands that can unite the current base with disaffected voters to change the field.
