It didn't 'fail to produce results,' the results are gonna be delayed by like a day, and the whole process is end-to-end transparent. It's a counting problem, not a voting one, and it's quite likely that *Pete* is the one losing out here if he's won or done surprisingly well.

Also, this conspiracy theory makes zero sense because Pete stood to benefit most from having a timely announcement of his strong showing, which can't be faked for the reasons @BeijingPalmer enumerated.
