I had a long drive yesterday so I listened to the impeachment managers. Over and over, they asked senators to subpoena certain documents and witness testimony. This is the part I don't understand—didn't the House have the same subpoena powers? Why beg opponents to do it?
It sounds like they do have the same subpoena powers, but legal appeals are expedited in the Senate case

If you define the power only as “issuing”, then yes. The House has to wait for it to be appealed all the way to the Supreme Court. During the Senate trial, John Roberts is already sitting there.
