That is my high level understanding as well. resistance turned into a bunch of leftest grift. With no strong identity or figures to rally around.

I think a charitable way to put it is that the movement went from zero to the biggest thing in American politics, and no one had the capacity to credibly stand at the head of it, or to make people not bicker and infight
