My mom has a tick-infested three acres in Maine, and Lyme disease. I'm trying to explore good options for tick eradication. Does anyone have experience (good or bad) with keeping guinea fowl?

I grew up chasing and caring for guinea fowl. They behave like a flock of ridiculous chickens who can get really loud if threatened. Pretty feathers too.

Do they tend to stay in their home territory or do they need to be caught and retrieved?

If you have the time, raise them as keets. They’ll stick closer to home than starting out with adults.

Yeah, that's the option I was exploring. Apparently you can just buy a box of keets by mail order and that's a thing!

They are fun birds and I definitely recommend them. They’re gentle on gardens too and make a ruckus if there are predators nearby.

It sounds like a good time. My mother also dislikes the neighbors, so anything that might annoy them is a bonus. I'm going to lobby hard for a box of keets come springtime
