But also people have dramatically different experiences depending on who they follow and how they interact with other users. And completely random things like how frequently they open the app snd whether they've disabled the algorithmic timeline.

People don’t want to admit that some of the most resilient pieces of misinformation are a grassroots invention. QAnon, antivax, pizzagate are primarily organic. But it’s easier to attribute these to foreign boogeymen than address the weaknesses in our institutions.
