I want to say something in defense of Bret Stephens: you can argue that IQ is a heritable trait, and that some populations have a higher IQ than others, without claiming any biological basis for it. Before you destroy me, this is not my argument, but it's perfectly defensible 1/2

The fact that traits can be heritable without being innate is one of the most powerful arguments against sexism and racism, which is why I am wandering into this particular minefield here on a lovely website devoted to building bridges with fellow people of good cheer.
