Some enterprising airline needs to configure their plane so the overhead bins are just a chute into the cargo space below. They can market it as "unlimited carry-ons".

There should also be a "fifteen items or less" express lane for airport security, like they have at grocery stores.

Unless it’s February in rural Romania and it takes four days for you to get your luggage with snow-appropriate shoes delivered from Bucharest!

None of this is valid if you have a connection, too high a chance the bag won't make it with you. And I've never checked bags again after that "free home delivery" once took 6 days over Christmas (Chicago suburbs)
-
Exactly. I don't mind "free home delivery", I mind "free delivery days later on vacation if you didn't lose them entirely". /And I travel with camera gear. No, you don't get to yoink my $1400 camera lens, thank you!

There’s pros and cons, but today’s scene was born when the airlines all started charging fees to check bags, which is approximately when there stopped being enough overhead space on full flights anymore
-
I think there’s one enterprising US airline (Alaska?) that never started gouging passengers for at least one bag check
