If Twitter allowed a fifth poll option I would have put "pure embezzlement"

The main perquisite I got from the Great Slate was a fancy frequent-flyer status because of all the travel. I thought this would be cool, but there seems to be a rule in the employee handbook that all flyers with the status be greeted by name. It turned into my own personal heck.

I also noticed that what fancy frequent flyer status mainly did was raise my feelings of entitlement, so that what had been occasional perks (more legroom! upgraded seat!) became the default expectation, and their absence, which had never bothered me before, a source of vexation.

(My favorite fact about the aviation entitlement ladder is that the step up from first class travel to a private plane involves a significant drop in objective physical comfort. All those masters of the universe are shoehorned into little tiny planes that bounce around the sky)

What if my answer is whatever you think will have the most impact?

I'm grateful for the vote of confidence, but I'm still trying to figure it out myself. A problem with thinking about 2020 is that everything is dominated by the presidential race.

I was a supporter of the Great Slate 2018. I liked the idea of supporting long-shot races where exciting candidates were challenging incumbent bozos. Trying to regain ground in Senate also critical in 2020. Your call.

For state candidates, how would you improve on http://flippable.org , now part of Swing Left?

Did you ever study the effect of Great Slate on donors? How many brand-new significant donors did you create? How many now give to individuals vs other slates such as Flippable or Data for Progress?

Bragging to your friends when a great Slate candidate called you was fun. It said, "I'm liberal, but also kind of a baller."
